16 Tech came to us to design their two story co-working space in Indianapolis at the beginning of the pandemic. During this uncertain time, we had to rethink what it meant to create a safe co-working space, with the hope that we could continue to adjust the layout in a post-pandemic world. I designed two layout concepts using the same furniture: one as a more filled out co-working space, and the other taking into consideration the latest CDC guidelines of 6’ social distancing and protective acrylic screens. Not only was our design adaptable to the needs of various companies, it was also adaptable to our ever evolving concept of health and safety in the workplace.

16 Tech's floor plan features several rooms with garage doors opening onto a high traffic common area. These rooms would be rented out by individual companies, and could be reconfigured at will. We gave 16 Tech several options of different desk types and colorways, and ultimately settled on a suite of furniture that provided for flexible individual and group work.
